We use Wakeeza.com to refer to our website and services collectively as "our Services." We also use "Wakeeza.com," "we," "us," and "our" to refer to the company operating our Services. A "Member" is an individual who has registered to use our Services. Unless otherwise indicated, this Privacy Policy applies to all our Services worldwide, and is issued in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 ("POPIA").


Who is Wakeeza.com?

Wakee is derived from "wake," which in Swati/Zulu means “vusa.” Our platform is a crowd-sourced review site for service providers (currently individuals, with businesses coming soon). We act as a peer-to-peer marketplace for products, services, and small jobs, facilitating interactions and transactions between job seekers, service providers, and clients.

Who We Share It With

We share personal information only where necessary to operate the Platform: with our appointed payment processor for payments and with our third-party escrow provider, Koticash (koticash.co.za), for escrow transactions, with identity verification providers to confirm your ID documents, with other Members to the extent needed to complete a transaction you've entered into (e.g. your name and delivery/meeting details), and with regulators or law enforcement where required by law. We do not sell your personal information.


Cross-Border Transfers

Where any of our service providers (such as payment processors or cloud hosting) process data outside South Africa, we take reasonable steps to ensure they provide a level of protection for your information that is at least equivalent to POPIA's requirements, as required under section 72 of POPIA.


Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this Policy, or as required by law (for example, financial and transaction records may need to be retained for a statutory minimum period). Once no longer needed, information is deleted or anonymised.
